Red Lion Pub Wiltshire
The pub dates back to 1802 but the building itself dates as far back as the 1600s. The pub is said to be haunted by Florie, whose husband was a soldier fighting in the Civil War. He returned to find his wife in bed with another man and gave the man a beating. The man managed to escape but her husband strangled Florie to death and threw her down the well; he told everyone she had run off with her lover.
The pub is said to be haunted by Florie who keeps returning because it is said she is trying to find a man with a beard which could be either her lover or husband. In the 17th century the pub was extended around the well and it became the centre piece in one of the dining rooms. Also the chandelier has been seen spinning, the juke box switches on and off by itself and a phantom horse and coach has been seen coming across the cobbled yard.
