Ectoplasm

Ectoplasm is a shapeless fluid which normally oozes from a mediums mouth, nose or ears, and could sometimes form a pseudopod like an ectoplasmic arm. The word ectoplasm was first used in 1894, by physiologist Charles Richet, and comes from 2 Greek words ektos meaning exteriorized and plasma meaning substance. He used it to describe a third arm (which was usually false), that occasionally emerged from Eusapia Palladino, who was a medium, during her séances.
