The cairn which was constructed in the centre as also survived. The stone circle was at one time in danger of being lost as it is built on a hill and the sides of the hill were being quarried. The circle is now in the care of Historic Scotland and the quarry is inactive.  The recumbent stone is thought to have been placed according to the moon. ‘ A dark hooded figure as been spotted at the stone circle but as quickly as it is seen it then vanishes. ‘
