Witches Stone Dornoch
A memorial stone which dates to 1727 was laid to commemorate the last burning of a witch in Scotland. Janet Horne was accused of being a witch and turning her daughter into a pony because of a birth defect. At her trail her failure to recite the Gaelic part of the Lord’s Prayer was seen as proof of her guilt. The ghost of Janet is often seen around the place where she was burned to death.
